Hand dyed spinning fibre

How to Spin from the Fold

In this video, I show you how I “spin from the fold” with a long draw as a way to manage short, slippery, and downy spinning fiber blends. Using this technique, I’m able to spin yarn faster than with an “inchworm” drafting technique and I’m able to create a loftier, lighter, airier yarn than with a worsted technique.

I’m using Yak+Silk fibre dyed for our SweetGeorgia Fibre Club. This is the September 2016 offering, called “Invisible Fate”.
