Member Update // Spinning with Suspended Spindles!

As December is approaching, I feel everything around me slowly begin to get more festive. Holiday goods on the shelves weeks ago, and the trickling in of Christmas tunes now playing in shops. But even before noticing any of this, there was something about the pace of everyday life that felt amped up… that the hustle and bustle arrived before I noticed anything else holiday. Throughout what can easily become a busy season, we hope you’re able to carve out moments of time for yourself to learn and make. Whether it’s working on holiday gifts or trying a new technique to make something special for yourself, we’d love to see what you’re working on! Along with sharing on the SOS forums, tag us @schoolofsweetgeorgia or #schoolofsweetgeorgia!
Now Available // Spinning with Suspended Spindles with Diana Twiss
New on the School of SweetGeorgia website – if you’ve ever wanted to venture into the world of spinning, using suspended spindles is a great way to start. All you need is a spindle and some fibre to start creating beautiful handspun yarn to knit and weave with.
Our instructor for this workshop is Diana Twiss: a passionate fibre artist who has been spinning for 20 years. Throughout this course, Diana introduces us to the different kinds of spindles you can work with, including popular Turkish spindles, plying your handspun using a spindle, and how to finish your yarn so it can be used in your fibre arts projects!

Diana loves the art of hand spinning due to it’s portability and the beautiful conditioned yarn it produces. Please join Diana as she teaches you the basics of spinning with a suspended spindle! Click here to begin the course today!
