Nuances diz rolag fibre McKenna

Member Update // Nuances to Spinning Better Yarns Now Available!

We’re so happy to finally be able to share this fabulous new course with you! Join instructor Kim McKenna at Nuances to Spinning Better Yarns, teaching techniques to take your spinning to the next level and become a better spinner.

To spin better yarns you need to pay attention, be present and mindful while you work with the fibre at hand. Every single choice we make along the way, changes the character of our yarn and changes the character of our fabric. You want to know what you’re doing to it and how it affects the yarn, so you know what to expect when it comes to your knitting or weaving project.

Throughout this course, you will learn how to treat commercially prepared fibre with a soaking treatment, prepare carded rovings and rolags with a blending board, plying through rings, joining techniques and much more.

Join us at Nuances to Spinning Better Yarns! As with all SOS courses, you can ask questions and share your progress with us in the SOS community forums. We’d also love to see photos of your work – tag us on Instagram with #sosnuancestospinningbetteryarns and #schoolofsweetgeorgia!

Last week, we were all about calculating and sourcing the fibre we need for the project. This week, it’s more about finding the space and time for your spinning. We’ll also cover lessons from Kim’s new spinning course and spin pre-soaked and non pre-soaked commercial top, and then compare those results.

Read more at Greta’s week two update and then head over to the forum group and share your progress and your spinning set-up with us!
