Handwoven Colour Episode 3

The comfort of a familiar stitch, pass, or draft… that soothing calm of working with a favourite fibre or colour. Moments of making something “simple” that bring us to the enjoyment of a finished project can be such a wonderful thing to help inspire projects which might be a little bit more challenging. Projects that require a bit more focus or require a new skill that isn’t yet familiar. We hope to help provide that inspiration and resources for all levels of makers to continue forward on your making journey, using something you’ve already learned and taking it that next step further. Which segues fittingly into our new workshop available on the SOS site!

Handwoven Colour Episode 3 // Sock Blank Scarves

We’re excited to now share with you the third episode of our ongoing Handwoven Colour series, Sock Blank Scarves! The focus of our Handwoven Colour episodes is working with colour and incorporating hand-dyed yarns into our weaving projects, and in our latest episode, we take hand-dyed sock blanks we’ve dyed in previous workshops and use them to create one-of-a-kind handwoven scarves.

Take advantage of all the different ways you can dye a sock blank and understand how it will translate to a handwoven cloth. Click here for Handwoven Colour, Sock Blank Scarves!

For any questions, comments or chat about this episode, it can be shared HERE in the School of SweetGeorgia community forums. We look forward to chatting with you there!

New Tiny Tutorial // Knit One Below

One of Tabetha Hedrick’s favourite knitting methods is fisherman’s rib. This stitch produces a knitted fabric which looks similar to brioche, but can be simpler to master and looks just as pretty. For this, Tabetha filmed a new tiny tutorial to help show how the Knit One Below (K1B) stitch of fisherman’s rib is worked, as well as how to undo, or tink, the K1B stitch!

Shown in the video are a couple of Tabetha’s patterns which use the fisherman’s rib method – one of which is Liddel. Knit in our Mohair Silk DK yarn, it is an excellent practice of the K1B stitch and the end result is a dreamy, squishy soft scarf perfect for bundling up in!
