Member Update // Multishaft Weaving Basics Course Now Available!

It’s been a week of reflection (and sleep… lots of sleep) after getting home from last weekend’s Escape with SweetGeorgia fibre arts retreat in Whistler. It was such an inspirational weekend and I feel so fortunate to have spent the weekend among the amazing support and excitement of these talented group of makers. I wasn’t prepared for the motivation I would also leave the retreat with – my mind is filled with new project ideas just waiting to begin.

Have you attended a fibre arts retreat before, or are you part of a local group that gathers together to meet and make? We’d love to hear a few of your favourite things about these gatherings, and how they may help inspire new projects or with learning a new skill or technique. And if weaving is one of them, we hope our latest course release will help you on your journey!

Now Available // Multishaft Weaving Basics

Ever since we began the School of SweetGeorgia, we have been waiting for the moment to share this topic… and the day is now here. Welcome to Multishaft Weaving Basics! In this first multishaft weaving course, Felicia will guide you through many aspects of weaving with a multishaft loom (both on a table and floor loom) such as how to dress a table loom and floor loom using the “back-to-front” method, weaving a sampler project and how to read a weaving draft.

Multishaft Weaving Basics
Weave your own sampler project using a 4-shaft loom!

Using the sampler as a reference, you will then design your own project and warp the loom a second time to make a handwoven cloth of your own design. Not to worry if you don’t have a floor loom, you can also use a table loom for the sampler project and final project. A minimum of 4-shafts is necessary for the sample weaving drafts we are working with.

Click here to begin Multishaft Weaving Basics today – we can’t wait to see your weaving samplers and projects! Be sure to post any progress photos on the forums for us to see, and don’t forget to ask any questions you have moving forward with your weaving goals.
