Member Update // Modern Punch Needle with Sahm Jalbert!

New Course // Modern Punch Needle
Few crafts are as simple to learn as Punch Needle. It’s fun, quick and highly adaptable. Whether your design is an intricate landscape or simple overlapping circles made by tracing jar lids, the results can be stunning. And because you can pull stitches out and re-punch again and again, there’s no risk of trying something outside your comfort zone!
Join our new SOS course, Modern Punch Needle, taught by Sahm Jalbert! Sahm walks you through punch needle tools, basics of punch needle, embroidery techniques, troubleshooting and more. Throughout the videos, we’ll make a sampler wall hanging plus a mini rug coaster. Under the Materials tab at the course page, you can also find links to help you get the tools needed to get you on your punch needle way!

Learn more at Modern Punch Needle! We are so excited to have local fibre artist Sahm here teaching us the beauty and fun of punch needle. For project sharing, questions and chat, post them over in our SOS forums. Happy Punching!
Natural Dyeing Study Group
Week Two of our Natural Dyeing Study Group is underway… we’re preparing our dye space, tools and notebook!
Last week, we were all about calculating and preparing the dye stuff and mordants we need for dyeing. This week, it’s more about figuring out the space where you will do this dyeing and assembling the tools that you need to do it. If you’re interested in joining this study group, we hope you come and join us over in the SOS forums group to see what is being planned, and to ask any questions you might have. We’d love to chat with you there!
And if you haven’t yet registered for the upcoming Zoom presentations with Kathy Hattori of Botanical Colors, you can do so at the following links: Handpainting with Natural Dyes on June 23rd and Indigo Dyeing on July 21st.

We’d love to hear of any fibre arts questions you may have – if you would like to submit a question or a “show & tell” project for the June livestream, please post your questions here!
Wishing you a colourful week of fibre arts exploration,
