Member Update // Go Beyond the Basics of Dyeing

42301 Ergonomics of Dyeing Yarn

Happy August! We’re excited to be starting off the month with our newest course release… join us at the lesson launch over at Dyeing Large Amounts of Yarn, taught by Charlotte Lee!

In this course, we go beyond the basics of dyeing just one or two skeins and move up to dyeing eight skeins or more. However, our focus here goes further than just the quantity, as we address the ergonomics involved in dyeing larger amounts of yarn. Lifting heavy pots, repetitive movements, and joint pressure can cause immediate and long-term injuries.

Charlotte will expertly guide us through these concerns and share valuable tips for dyeing in larger batches, addressing common questions frequently raised in our community forums, such as dye exhaustion and yarn bleeding. We are excited to start this journey with you! Remember, to also join us in the Community Forums.

Handspun Scraps, Rigid-Heddle Weave-Along
//  led by Debbie Held

Handspun yarn scrap weave-along led by Debbie Held

We’re excited to announce our first handspun scraps, rigid heddle weave-along (WAL)! We’ll be weaving November 1st–30th, and the weave-along itself will take place on the SweetGeorgia Discord channel. This WAL is perfect for anyone who’s been curious about using their handspun in weaving, but there are many more reasons to join in. Debbie Held will be there to offer support and encouragement, and will be weaving along, too! At the end of the month, we’ll gather on Zoom for an informal group show and tell.
