Amanda Wood

Amanda Wood

Amanda loves sharing her weaving knowledge and helping students realize their ideas. A graduate of the Capilano University Textile Arts program, and a member of the Canadian Guild of Weavers and the Craft Council of BC, she teaches materials driven workshops at various locations in Vancouver. In addition to teaching, Amanda has an interdisciplinary studio practice grounded in the tools and techniques of hand weaving.

Her practice has given her a deep understanding of the connection between body and mind. Guided by the temporality, materiality and physicality of the hand weaving process, she is currently working with other materials and processes that rely on skill and hand work such as ceramics, photography, and printmaking. With a beginners mind and an interest in glitches and imperfection she is working from a place of deep listening rather than mastery. Her workshops are places of exploration, compassion and engagement with materials.
