Spinning Intentional Colour

Develop a functional, working understanding of colour and how it affects your spinning, plus gain more confidence in your abilities to spin colour with intention with Spinning Intentional Colour, taught by Felicia Lo Wong.

In this course, instructor Felicia Lo Wong teaches you how to develop a functional, working understanding of colour and how it affects our spinning.

It’s one thing to know how to spin and make a beautiful and colourful yarn, and it’s a whole other thing to know just how that yarn will work up into cloth. If you want the colours to appear in the cloth in a certain way, then you can work backwards to figure out how you want to spin the fibre.

Throughout this course, you will learn:

  • how colour is affected by spinning.
  • recognize essential colour theory vocabulary: hue, saturation, value, and temperature.
  • how to make a “muddy” skein so we can intentionally choose to avoid, or embrace, the mixing and blending of colour.
  • how our spinning decisions affect our colour results and also produces different kinds of yarn.

By the end of the class, we hope you will have more confidence in your skills and abilities to spin colour with intention.

Download the Spinning Intentional Colour workbook (available at the “Materials” tab above) to find all of the fundamental information, as well as photos and links to inspirational resources, mentioned in the course.
