1.6 Fibre Choices
Choosing your fibre is incredibly important as a natural dyer, because the preparation for plant-based fibres, which are our linens and our cottons, will be incredibly different than if you’re working with protein fibres. So things from animals, whether that be wool or alpaca or silk.
Different wools will actually take up colour differently. Whether they’re super wash or non-super wash. And different plant-based fibres will take up colour differently as well. I find that working with linen, you almost have to coax the colour, but whereas with cotton, it actually comes out just a little bit easier.
