Essential Weaving with Felicia Lo.
Welcome to Essential Weaving. For many, weaving can seem like a huge undertaking with lots of expensive and equipment attached to it, so it doesn’t seem very accessible. However, we are here to show you that the core of weaving is actually very simple and there are many paths that make it possible to find the right kind of weaving for you.
Ultimately, there is an essential body of knowledge in weaving that is helpful to know, regardless of what equipment you are using to weave that cloth. This course is designed to be exactly that — an overview of the essential concepts so that you can weave on your rigid heddle loom, multi-shaft loom, or whatever loom you choose. After this Essential Weaving course, you’ll be able to understand how and why they work, how all forms of weaving are similar as well as how they are distinct from each other.
In this Essential Weaving course we’ll cover subjects such as:
- Looms and tools
- Yarns designed for weaving
- How to plan your weaving project
- How to wind a warp
- Tips and tricks on how to keep weaving pain-free and fun
We hope you’ll join us for Essential Weaving! Looms, materials and more can be purchased through SweetGeorgia Yarns.

Fresh off the loom and currently soaking before wet finishing. Happy with the pattern, warp is preserved, and moving on to shifted color combos. I’m hopping down to the city this weekend to work on a few opera workshops in the evenings, so I’m hoping to warp this up and take it with me! Love the benefits of folding table looms.
After the citric acid soak I’ll be following the Magic in the Water wet finishing methods from SOS. It’s superwash but the fiber will rebound a bit, fluff up, and then when I press the pattern will lock in! Torn on whether or not to twist the fringe since I did hemstitch as always 🧶
