Design your Own Triangular Shawl

Whether you’ve always wanted to design something, or you just want to put a good stitch pattern to use, this course will walk you through designing your first top-down triangular shawl, step-by-step.

Tabetha Hedrick · January 31, 2022

If you’re a knitter looking to expand their skills into the knit design world, maybe interested in putting a good stitch pattern to use, join instructor Tabetha Hedrick at Design Your Own Triangular Shawl course!

From conceptualization to swatching, gauge, crunching numbers, and blocking the final piece, Tabetha walks you through every single step of designing a top-down, triangular shawl shape. You’ll learn how to work all of this together into your very own design, using any yarn or stitch you might be dreaming of.

Note: This course is also part of the lesson material in the SOS Knitting Study Group-guide – If you would love to design your own shawl but want to learn to knit lace or brush up and improve your lace mastery first, we hope you’ll join us there.

All of the chat and progress from Design your Own Triangular Shawl course can be shared over at the SOS forums, with social media posts shared using the tags: #sosknitting and #schoolofsweetgeorgia

For SOS makers taking part in the the fun of Socktober, the Spinning Study Group, or for anyone new who joined us during our Spinning Summit, we have some new tutorials for you to discover at the SOS site. These spinning and knitting tips and techniques are great to bookmark and quickly reference while working through your fibre arts projects.

For Socktober knitters, Tabetha's @tabismiles new Faux Circular Gauge Swatch tutorial will help you save both some yarn and time (plus help with making sure those new handknit socks fit) when knitting a gauge swatch for your next sock project. Find the video over at our SOS tutorials page!
