Welcome to Crochet Joins!
If you have completed the crochet courses in the School of SweetGeorgia, you may be ready to work on bigger pieces that require joins. Under the guidance of instructor Charlotte Lee, students in Crochet Joins will learn four joining techniques: pick up and work in the round, single crochet join, slip stitch join, and whip stitch join. And you’ll get to practice each technique by making a coordinating project, including a small tray, pouch, handbag, and a larger tote.
By the end of the course, you will know how and when to use these four joins for future projects like garments and joining crochet squares. The sky’s the limit!
Syllabus
- How to pick up and work in the round, making Tina’s Jewelry Tray
- How to single crochet join to make the Strawberry Pouch
- How to slip stitch join and make the Gogo Handbag
- How to whip stitch by making the Mountain Peaks Tote
- How to wet block your finished items
The comprehensive workbook included in the course contains all the joining instructions for each project. If you are new to making triangles, please review the Crochet Increases & Decreases course and workbook first.
We hope you’ll also join us for the live Q&A event for the course (which will be recorded and added to the course page):
- Crochet Joins Q&A on February 15, 2023, at 12:00 PM PT

In addition to learning from courses, live lectures and the community forums, don't miss all of the fabulous content being shared over at our SOS Articles section, such as Ruth Nguyen's @redearthdesignstudio recently released: Knit or Crochet? The Multicraftual Says Both!
Can you knit or crochet? If you’re here, it might very well be both! Multicraftual making is the heartbeat of the School of SweetGeorgia—weaving and spinning and dyeing. Oh my! For almost a decade, I thought of myself as exclusively a knitter, even though I learned to crochet around the same time I learned to knit. In more recent years, I’ve come to identify as a crocheter, as well, by incorporating crochet more intentionally into my multicraftual cycle.
