So, you walk into a yarn shop and you’re presented with an amazing wall display of beautiful yarns in every possible colour… overwhelming, isn’t it? The hardest thing to decide when you’re starting a new knitting project or choosing yarns in a shop is… what colour do I pick?
What are we afraid of? We’re worried we’ll choose a colour that will look bad on us or make us feel silly when we wear it or we aren’t sure which colours go with which. Knitting takes a big investment of time, money, and energy, so there is added pressure to choose the “right” colours.
Whether you’ve been knitting and working with colour for years or just getting started, this mini-workshop will walk you through the basics of working with colour and help you feel more confident about creating your own palettes and colour combinations for your projects. In our time together, we will play and combine different colours based on a variety of inspirations and then find different ways to knit them together to produce completely unique results.
My hope is that you will be inspired to continue the lifelong journey in exploring colour and the many ways we can use it in our crafts. My goal is to walk you through that fear and trepidation and replace it with confidence and joy. Join me to learn about and play with colour!

• Gain confidence to pick up any skein of yarn in any colour and have an idea of what you would combine with it and why.

With our "Colour Play" workshop, our goal was to help knitters learn to make their own colour palettes with confidence. Make a two, three, five, or more colour combination that works beautifully together and use that for your multi-coloured shawl or other knitting projects. Colour Play is free to sign up for at http://www.sweetgeorgiayarns.com. Here, @ramblinghoundphoto picked a few palettes when we did the workshop as a group at @sweetgeorgia. Show us your palettes! What are your favourite colour combinations? .

Workbook
Before we get started, be sure to download a copy of our "Colour Play Workbook" here » There is lots of information in the videos, but it also helps to have illustrations and photos in your hands to refer to while you're working through the content. Also, I've included lots of ideas for colour palettes and starting points as well as additional knitting pattern ideas and more. I hope that you'll find this workbook helpful as you watch the videos. Please feel free to let me know if you have thoughts or suggestions about improving the workbook in the future!
Colours to Play With
If you are participating in our Colour Play workshop as part of an in-store local yarn store event, you will have access to 36 colours of our SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock to play with during your workshop. If you are playing along with us from home, you can definitely use your own stash yarns, leftover bits of yarn from other projects, fat quarters or other coloured fabrics, or even sample paint chips.
